Government Recognized Training:
Apprentices are ensured proper training by both Federal and State Governments. These agencies establish basic requirements of sound training that must be met for apprenticeship programs to receive government recognition. Sponsors must adhere to those requirements in operating their programs. Likewise, apprentices must live up to their obligations under their agreement. Apprentices who successfully complete their training in such programs are certified as journeyman by a government-issued certificate of completion. The United States Department of Labor’s Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training assists in the formulation and implementation of these apprenticeship standards.
