Local 549 would like to congratulate Bill Dean for being promoted to General Organizer for, Eastern Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, and Northern West Virginia’s District Council. He was Local 549’s Business Manager/Financial Secretary/Treasurer from 1994 to 2008. We wish Bill the best of luck with his new job promotion.
We would also like to thank Larry Lilley for his dedication and ten+ years of serving as business agent and organizer for the union. He recently retired in April and we wish him the best of luck also.
Apprenticeship Competition - Local 549 would like to congratulate apprentices Bryan Reighard of Toronto, Ohio and Perry Jones of Bethany, WV who placed 1st and 2nd in this years District Council Apprenticeship Competition. They will be joining last years 1st and 2nd place winners, Jamie Dent of Knob Fork, WV and Justin Pritchard of Core, WV at the National Competition in Philadelphia, PA in September.
Chad Adams of Powhatan Point, Ohio competed in the last national competition held in St. Louis in 2006 and placed a very respectable 15th in the nation. This year, with a record four qualifiers from Local Union 549 competing in the National Competition, possible one of them can bring home the top prize. Best of luck to all of you!
Accepting Applications - We will begin accepting applications on the first and third Mondays of September. Please bring your drivers license, social security card, birth certificate, high school diploma and transcripts. There is a twenty dollar application fee.
